Covered electrode for Welding Nickel Alloys
Basic Covering
Standards: - -
DIN 1736 EL - Ni Cr 20 Mo 9 Nb
AWS/ASME-SFA-5.11 E Ni Cr Mo - 3
Application and Properties:

Basic coated electrode with an alloyed core wire for welding of highly corrosion resisting nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloys like NiCr22Mo9Nb (2,4856), NiCr21Mo (2,4858), NiCr22Mo6Cu (2,4618) and joining them with unalloyed, low-alloy and high-alloy steels as well as cast steels. It is also suitable for welding austenitic steels of highest corrosion resistance, like 1,4529 (X1NiCrMoCuN25 20 6), 1,4547 (X1CrNiMoCuN20 18 7) , cryogenic nickel steels, like X8Ni9 (1,5662), ferritic to austenitic steels, subjected to operating temperatures of over +300˚C. Good weldability with stable arc characteristics, medium slag removal, regular weld beads. Due to it's composition is highly resistant to corrosion and gives a high yield and tensile strength. Some special applications are welding of off-shore components, boilers, vessels, piping systems in chemical and petrochemical industries as well as components of flue gas desulfurizing plants.
